Our visit to Chung-Ang university (CAU) was definitely our favourite. We felt really honoured to be treated so well by such a prestigious university. The people were all so friendly and nice to us, giving us a personal and homely feeling. It was the only university who actually printed out our school name and welcome us. There were also student ambassadors to interact with us.
They not only gave us a booklet and holder of CAU, they have us really yummy refreshments and a gift! They were so thoughtful.

Chung-Ang University currently has 5 Facilities, namely Humanities and Social Sciences, Natural Sciences and Engineering, Business and Economics, Medicine and Pharmacy as well as Arts and Sports Science. They also have a total of 11 colleges. The university is a semester-based school with the 1st semester from March to mid June and the 2nd semester from September to December. In regards to the timetable, it is very much similar to how it works in Ngee Ann Polytechnic, with the earliest class at 9am and the latest class at 8pm. The university also has many clubs and societies to join, religious kind and sports as well. Most of the classes are conducted in Korean, however there are some courses that are available in English as well.
The first and oldest building on the Chung Ang campus, and is named after the founder of the university. Its infrastructure is made out of stone. Chung-Ang University began with the establishment of Chung Ang Kindergarten as an annex to the Chung Ang Methodist Church located in Insadong, Jongnogu, Seoul, in April 1918. She was the one who founded the Chung Ang kindergarten during the Japanese imperialism. At that time, education in Korea was tough, evidently showing much effort she put in to bring education into Korea.
The statue placed in front of the building is actually the tombstone of Chung Ang, where her bones are placed underneath.
Next, there is a pond called the Blue Dragon Pond in Chung Ang University. It is basically made up of a pond, with the structure of a dragon in the middle of it. The Blue Dragon Monument was erected to safe-guard artifacts and documents for the next 100 years. This means that the Blue Dragon is not just a structure or statue, but also a time capsule for the university. It contains crucial and important documents and information regarding Chung Ang University. When Chung Ang University celebrates its 100th anniversary, the time capsule will be opened and explored to find out more about its rich history.
Next, we visited Chung-Ang Central Library. The 7-storey library was established in 1949 and remodeled in 2009. As the building is made of glass, it lights up beautifully at night. An interesting fact about the Chung-Ang Central Library is that it was the largest library in Asia when it was first built. This large library provides 5000 seats on the 1st and 4th floor for students to self-study. What differentiates it from Singapore is that the students are required to book their study seats with a machine in the library.
On the 2nd floor is the E-Lounge that allows English-speaking students and Korean-speaking students to communicate with one another. It is a win-win situation as students are able to improve both their English and Korean.
So far, we really enjoyed this university visit. We even dreaded leaving them because it was so interesting and fun. Some of us are already considering studying abroad in CAU.
